Autumn Term (first half) 2019

Literacy

In Literacy this term we will be learning to write traditional tales, reports (newspapers) and appreciate and recite poetry.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Maths

In maths this term we will be looking at number sense-place value, addition and subtraction, and geometry - properties of shapes and position and direction.

R.E 

In R.E we will looking at 'Chosen People', where  we appreciate that we are chosen and gifted by God to help others. It also will develop our knowledge  of Abraham, Moses and Daniel.

Science

This term  we will be learning about Animals including Humans.    

 

History 

In History we will be learning about the Great Fire of London.

 

D &T

/Art

In Art we will be drawing ,using different pencils e.g. charcoal, crayons for Fire of London art)

 

Music

In our 'Charanga' programme we will be looking at the topic 'Hands, feet and heart'.

Computing

In computing we will be looking at E-safety and coding using Purple Mash.

PE

We will developing our skills through outdoor games.

 

Other notices: 

 

  • Reading - please ensure you read with your child and record reading in their diary at least 5 times per week.  They will then be entered into a raffle where a prize can be won.
  • Spelling tests are completed on a Thursday and new spellings are set on a Friday.
  • Homework is given out on a Friday and is to be completed by the following Wednesday.
  • PE kits will be needed on a Monday and remain in school the entire week (this should include both outdoor and indoor clothing)
  • Please provide a named water bottle for your child.         

The SATs tests for Year 2 will be taking place in May. In preparation for this, below are some useful links to websites/games that can act as revision for the children covering some of the basic knowledge they require to access the papers;
