Year 2/3 Curriculum Overview
Please listen to your children read on a daily basis. Ask them questions about their book. Encourage your children to complete their Times Tables Rock Stars practice daily. (x2 x5 x10 at first).
Children will receive weekly spellings that they will need to practise on a daily basis and they will be tested on during the week. (usually a Thursday)
Children will receive a weekly reading comprehension and a Mental Maths challenge in their booklets each week.
There will be an Art or Science project to complete during the holidays.
We will expect you to read 5 times a week with an adult at home and record it in your reading record. Your reading records will be checked by the adults in class each week and when 5 reads have been recorded with an adult at home, you will be entered into the weekly class reading raffle for the chance of winning a reading prize.
Each Monday, you will be given your weekly spellings to practice at home in your homework books. The homework books are expected back in on a Friday.
Please ensure that you bring a clean water bottle to school each day which is clearly marked with your name. We have cold water towers around school for you to refill your water bottle throughout the day.
Please see the weekly class time table below for your twice weekly PE slots.
PE kit will need to be worn on that day.
Forest School takes place in all weathers and all seasons. Children and adults must be dressed appropriately as 'there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing!'
You are encouraged to explore and investigate; you will need clothes that enable you to do this. As a parent said, 'You can wash away the mud, but you can't wash away the experience.'
Forest School Clothing:
- Jogging bottoms
- Water proof trousers
- Water proof jacket
Remember - these items will get muddy!
