Welcome to Year 1!
During the summer term our topic in school is ‘Landscapes’. Throughout this unit we are going to be looking at different landscapes from around the world. In science the children will be exploring forces. They will be doing this through investigations and observations. This will link closely to our design and technology work on structures. The children will have a look at existing structures and then use their knowledge of forces to build their own structure. For design and technology we will need some junk modelling so if you have any please send it into school over the next few weeks. Thank you!
Our first topic is called ‘Resurrection’ throughout this topic the children will reflect on the importance of Easter when Jesus rose from the dead. They will learn about the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and reflect on times when their own sadness turned to joy. The second topic we will look at is 'Miracles'. In this topic the children will explore the role of miracles in the life of Jesus. The children will learn that Jesus had the power to perform miracles and that he performed miracles to show his love and care for others.
