Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day 2024 -  8th  February 2024

Inspiring change? Making a difference, managing influence and navigating change online.

The Children's Committee worked with Mrs Taylor, our computing lead to organise a whole school assembly to talk about the importance online safety. In KS2 children focused on a cross curricular session where they created timelines to show how technology had changed over the years. They focused on phones, computers , music devices and games consoles. In KS1 children discussed how games they play might change and who they could talk about if they were unsure about something online. In EYFS children read the story Chicken Clicking and created posters on the important parts and characters in the story.

Safer Internet Day 2023

Safer Internet Day 2023 took place on 7th of February 2023, with celebrations and learning based around the theme ‘Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online’.

Coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre, the celebration saw thousands of organisations getting involved to promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.

The Children's Committee worked with Mrs Taylor, our computing lead to organise a whole school assembly to talk about the importance online safety. In the afternoon children took part in a variety of creative activities including using art , drama and debate to discuss issues surrounding internet safety.  We focused on the questions:

  • What issues really matter to children and young people?
  • What changes do they want to see?
  • How can we all work together to advocate for them moving forward?
