SPPSA - St Patrick's Primary School Association
Newsletters
The St. Patrick’s Primary School association (SPPSA) exists as a body to support St Patrick's Catholic Primary School, to provide a link between the parents of the pupils who attend the school to raise funds to provide facilities beyond those provided by the Local Authority. The SPPSA is a voluntary organisation which relies on Parents' support to organise and run events to raise money to purchase additional equipment to support and enhance our children in their learning.
The SPPSA Committee consists of the following offices:
Chairperson: this position will be held by a parent member elected by the guiding committee of members. They act as leader and are primarily responsible for coordinating events with the President and the school itself.
Vice Chairperson: this position will be held by a parent member elected by the guiding committee of members. The vice chair will act as chairman during any such meetings that the elected chairman cannot attend and take on any tasks passed to them by the chairman.
Treasurer: this post will be held by a parent member elected by the guiding committee of members. The treasurer is responsible for maintaining up-to-date fiscal records for the SPPSA.
Secretary: this post will be held by a parent member elected by the guiding committee of members. The secretary is responsible for maintaining records of meeting minutes, providing agendas for the meetings and writing and sending out the SPPSA newsletters.
Guiding Committee: the Guiding Committee consists of Parent Members who have volunteered to become members. The Guiding Committee are responsible for attending meetings, as well as volunteering to help during SPPSA fundraising events. To become a member of the Guiding Committee a Parent need only express their desire to do so and give their details to the Secretary.
Parent Members: these are members who support the SPPSA but do not wish to be members of the Guiding or Executive Committee. By virtue of being the parent or guardian of a student attending the school you become a Parent Member of the SPPSA. By actively associating with the SPPSA parents/guardians make it known that they are willing to volunteer to help with SPPSA fundraising events.
The SPPSA aims to organise and run several fundraising events within the school year, in the past year we have run the following events:
- School Discos (usually 1 per ½ term)
- Christmas wreath making evening
- Summer Fayre
- Year 6 Celebration
- Grandparents Christmas tea morning
We are always looking for volunteers to help us run events, so if you can spare a couple of hours once a month, come along to our next meeting and help the SPPSA raise funds for OUR children. We want YOU!
