Welcome to Year 2
Teachers - Mrs Everson (M-W) and Mrs Griffiths (W-F)
Teaching assistants- Miss Holding
Welcome to Year 2 - Happy New Year! We hope you had a lovely Christmas with your family. Thank you for all of your kind gifts and cards.
A little about us:
We both love working together and enjoy planning fun lessons for our class. We both have two children and enjoy getting outdoors with our families. We both have special talents - Mrs Everson plays trombone and Mrs Griffiths is a gymnast!
Miss Holding will be moving up with you to Year 2. She is very excited to be working with you all again. Miss Holding is very creative and is a very talented make up artist!
Our first topic in the Spring term is ‘Poles Apart’, where we will be learning all about the Arctic and Antarctic. We will look at animals and their habitats in Science and consider why some animals live in the North and South Pole and how they have adapted to these climates. We will be producing some traditional Inuit art using clay.
In maths, we will continue to look at number and place value: estimating, counting and comparing quantities. We will then progress onto learning an efficient way to add and subtract numbers using number lines. Later in the term we look at symmetry in geometry and also multiplication and division.
