Emotional Health and Wellbeing

At SCCP&N, we are proud of our SEMH offer and pride ourselves on early identification of need, both with children at school and their families, and the robust support we are able to put in place in order to help.

We have a highly effective and trained team in place, including 2 Senior Mental Health leads and 2 Mental Health first aiders.

If your child needs our support, or if there is a situation you feel we can support your family with, please get in touch with school via the school office. Our SEMH team can then decide how best to proceed, in collaboration with you, and identify the best pathway to take. This could include targeted support with individuals, such as ELSA or Drawing and Talking with our own specialists, small group work, like Lego engineers or forest school nurture – again with our own specialists, or other, external support with outside agencies like MHST and BEAM.

Through our specialist curriculum learning, and through our commitment to a family centred ethos, we will endeavour to continue to teach and support our children so that they can successfully manage their feelings and emotions and make the most of their time at school.

BEAM is an emotional health and wellbeing drop-in service for young people under 25 years old who are registered with a GP in Shropshire, Telford or Wrekin

BEAM can:

  • recommend strategies and techniques that aim to make life easier – for example, how to manage a panic attack, or how to improve sleep.
  •  give practical suggestions and advice – this might be suggesting you look at website or that you contact another service.
  • provide a listening ear if you have something you want to get off your chest.

Kooth offers a wide range of therapeutic tools to help children and young people and support their mental wellbeing. The Kooth team are available to chat 7days a week, 365 days of the year. Kooth users can access the magazine, discussion boards and other online content whenever they like, from wherever they are.
