Welcome to Forest School
"The philosophy of Forest Schools is 'to encourage and inspire individuals of any age through an innovative, long term, educational approach to outdoor play and learning in a woodland environment."
Here at Shrewsbury Cathedral we are extremely proud of our outdoor learning area which is ever expanding. We firmly believe in the benefits of outdoor learning. All children in KS1 have a learning session at Forest School once a week, KS2 have ample opportunities throughout the year in nurture or whole class sessions, as well as in our after school Cathedral club.
We currently have our original Forest School area, consisting of a fire pit, mud kitchen and bird watching area. Additionally, our two poly tunnels are a fantastic asset to our outside learning, one is used as an outdoor classroom and the other for growing produce. Our chickens have also recently joined us and the children are responsible for feeding, watering and collecting their eggs which we can then sell to our school families. The jubilee prayer garden is currently in progress as well.
"You can wash away the mud, but you can't wash away the experience".
