Promoting British Values

Promoting British Values

At our school, in accordance with The Department for Education, we aim to actively promote British values to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.

The Key Values are:

  • democracy
  • rule of law
  • individual liberty
  • mutual respect
  • tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

These key values are displayed around our school, actively discussed within lessons and form part of our assemblies including our Collective Worship. We feel strongly that the Key British Values compliments the work we do as Catholic School in promoting good citizenship. British values are celebrated in our behaviour reward system as demonstrated by the certificates below. Children receive these for amassing green cards which they are awarded for demonstrating these values. They receive them on a Wednesday during our Worldly Assembles.
