Year 1 Curriculum Overview
Homework will consist of reading 5 times a week with an adult, practising your times tables and your spellings. See below for further details.
We will expect you to read 5 times a week with an adult at home and record it in your reading record. Your reading records will be checked by the adults in class each week and when 5 reads have been recording with an adult at home, you will be entered into the weekly class reading raffle for a chance at winning reading prize.
Each Monday, you will be given your weekly spellings to practice at home in your homework books. The homework books are expected back in on a Friday.
Spellings will be tested on a half termly basis via a class spelling bee. These spellings will be selected from the weekly spellings which have been learnt over the past half term.
Times Tables will be set via Times Table Rock Stars for their weekly homework. Staff are able to monitor your progress via the website.
Please ensure that you bring a clean water bottle to school each day which is clearly marked with your name. We have cold water towers around school for you to refill your water bottle throughout the day.
Please see the weekly class time table below for your twice weekly PE slots.
PE kit will need to be worn on that day.
Forest School takes place in all weathers and all seasons. Children and adults must be dressed appropriately as 'there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing!'
You are encouraged to explore and investigate; you will need clothes that enable you do do this. As a parent said, 'You can wash away the mud, but you can't wash away the experience.'
Forest School Clothing:
- Jogging bottoms
- Water proof trousers
- Water proof jacket
Remember - these items will get muddy!
Please see below for the curriculum coverage for the first half of the Autumn Term 2020.
